Mike Pesca
The Gist is the longest-running daily news and analysis podcast in existence, hosted by NPR veteran journalist Mike Pesca, who pushes back against dogma, challenging his guests and audience alike to think outside their silo and interact with the news as it is, and not as they would like it to be. His unique pragmatic point of view gives listeners an alternative to the polarizing commentary found almost everywhere else. He is known for holding journalists and politicians accountable for the words they say and the resulting actions, as well as providing sharp analysis of the arts, focused on film, comedy and books.

Programming
The Cascade PBS Ideas Festival offers a program that provides a wide spectrum of viewpoints, experiences and affiliations, and welcomes members of many communities. We are sensitive to the fact that some opinions and conversations may make audience members feel uncomfortable. As a public media organization, we are responsible to act as a neutral mediator. We do not endorse the policies or opinions of our guests. However, we believe that the best way to bridge our divides is to hear from people with whom we might disagree, even vehemently, and to ask each other hard questions.
